Safranor: A field survey
Economic and Political Landscape
By engaging with local saffron producers, Safranor acknowledged the country's efforts, particularly those of the farmers, to rejuvenate its economy and exports despite its vulnerabilities. Corruption has diminished, and the irrigation of agricultural land has seen enhancements, leading to increased production. While freedoms continue to be suppressed, production yields remain favorable; however, logistics and transportation remain notably sluggish.
This field approach has established advantageous connections with farmers.
Its aim is to:
Encourage local agricultural production.
Saffron is primarily cultivated in the province of Herat, which is justly celebrated as the foremost region for this crop.
Safranor conducted a survey across three regions of Herat province: Ghoryan, Pashton-Zarghon, and Gozorah.
Adherence to ISO 3632-2 standards
Drying: The observed drying methods include shade, heating systems, electric ovens, and sunlight. These methods influence the final composition of saffron. The values of crocin (color) and picrocrocin (flavor) naturally diminish in the stigma cells during the processes of drying, storage, and extraction.
Soil and Climate: The chemistry and temperature of the soil can significantly influence the quality and yield of saffron.
Altitude: Research on the quantity and quality of saffron at varying altitudes has demonstrated a significant correlation between altitude and crocin content (color).
Fertilizers: Prior research indicates that organic fertilizers, irrigation, and soil fertilization significantly influence saffron quality. Consequently, the method of crop management may also impact pistil quality.
Our gold standard continues to be ongoing analysis, meticulous transport, and secure storage.
Safranor's field survey yielded encouraging results: the production quality from Afghan farmers competes with that of Gâtinais saffron and readily meets the ISO 3632-2 standard.

PRODUCTION
Our products integrate superior quality with competitive pricing. Each batch is certified and accompanied by a comprehensive analysis.
We ensure optimal quality in accordance with our specifications. Safranor guarantees deliveries that adhere to the ISO 3632-2 standard.
When quantities are inadequate or the resource is safeguarded, we explore the feasibility of cultivating it.
The processing of crops adheres to prevailing health regulations. Workers don gloves, masks, and hairnets, in accordance with the principles of the craft.
Women's labor constitutes a substantial contribution to household income. This essential financial asset must be protected.
TRANSPORT: for optimal preservation.
We use air transport for import, thus preserving its quality.
The saffron is initially vacuum-sealed and subsequently packaged isothermally at 15°C temperatures.
Upon its arrival in France, the saffron is unpacked, stabilized at 40% humidity, vacuum-sealed in glass containers, and stored at a cool temperature (15°C).
Prior to handling, the room is sanitized using an ozone generator device.
